For your resistance bands to last longer, there are several ways to take care of them. Below are eight tips you should follow.
Following the above tips is the best way to clean your resistance band after a hard workout. When your resistance band is dirty, you should never store it. Once you have cleaned the resistance band, ensure it is completely dry before storing it.
Putting your resistance band directly under the sun is one of the biggest mistakes you can make when using a resistance band. UV light, which is emitted from the sun, discolors latex.
It is harsh to expose resistance bands to direct sunlight, and this can cause the color to fade. It can also make your resistance band brittle, making it susceptible to snapping.
Just a moment ago I mentioned keeping your resistance band away from the sun. You also need to keep it away from hot places. Resistance bands can become brittle quickly when heated. The study shows that heat degrades latex gloves quickly, so your resistance band may be affected in the same way. You should keep your resistance band in a cool place so that it can last you a long time.Keep Your Resistance Band Dry
Also, it would be best if you kept it in a dry place. Moisture can weaken a resistance band if it is exposed to it for a long period of time.
Additionally, the study shows that fungus and bacteria can grow on latex resistance bands when the surrounding environment is damp and moist. Moreover, it may cause your fabric resistance band to smell funky and degrade.
In a dark, dry place like a drawer, keep your resistance band in a Ziplock bag to extend its life.
Make sure your resistance band is not strained when you store it.
Also, ensure that your resistance band does not have any weight on top of it. Ensure that your bands do not get weighed down by other items in a drawer by putting them over them.
It may seem like a fun idea to work out in the pool with your resistance bands. However, you should immediately stop. In a swimming pool, chlorine is a harsh chemical that wears out and damages resistance bands quickly.
Punctures should also be taken seriously as a warning sign.
As with tears and nicks, this is for the same reason. An unattended puncture in your resistance band could quickly become a big hole and lead to it snapping.
Whenever a latex resistance band starts peeling, that means that it is past its prime. If you see that it is peeling, I strongly suggest you look for a replacement.
